The Education University of Hong Kong
Goals & purposes:
To provide resources of classical poems in Cantonese singing style through a mobile app. Through this App, students can know better Cantonese tones and tone-preservation in Cantonese singing, and apply similar method in classical poem teaching in the future.
Cantonese lexical tones are preserved in singing, which provide an important linguistic cue for text memorization. In another way, the form of singing can lead to a better understanding of rhythmic and prosodic features of classical poems, and thus add the interest of poem learning.
